IPOD HEAVEN

NEW YORK (AP)  -- The iPod craze has spawned a crime wave in city subways.

Police told the city transportation board on Wednesday that 50 iPods have been reported stolen on the subways so far this year, compared to none during the same period last year.

Cell phone thefts have more than doubled to 165 from 82 last year.

The thefts fueled a 20 percent spike in robberies last month on the subway, officials said. Most thieves are believed to keep the devices, which can retail for $100 to $500.

"It usually has to do with young people taking them from young people," said police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

Thieves spot people with the telltale white earphones, then snatch the devices and run out train doors. On Web sites, iPod devotees suggest keeping the devices concealed and switching to cheaper-looking earphones.

An average of nine to 10 serious crimes occur daily on the city's subway system, officials said. Kelly called that number "remarkably low" and attributed it to extra police patrols.

PLAY IT AGAIN, IPOD

We all know the songs that bring us back to a certain moment. Mine has to be "Letting the cables sleep" by Bush. I remember going to my friends apartment - after calling him from a cab,  crying about another break-up with my ex.

We broke up several times before the major one.

We would meet at Starbucks. I am crying blatantly. My friend would walk in - we would talk. I would go to his apartment, and I curl up on the couch crying. He would turn on some music - and "Letting the Cables Sleep" was one of the songs on his playlist, and ask if I want some vodka.

This ritual would continue three more times. It was comical. Always Starbucks. Always curling up on the couch. Always "Letting the Cables Sleep" . Always Vodka.

I can now listen to this song and reminisce about the bad days.

ROCKIN' AROUND THE CHRISTIAN TREE

I got this off of  New York City Boys

Alter Boyz - the story of a Christian boy band riding the wave of America's latest fascination w/ religion. Armed w/ catchy melodies, freaky moves & product in their hair, these self-appointed apostles of pop (Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan... & Abraham - he's Jewish) bring their soul-saving tour to NYC w/ their heavenly lyrics like "Girl, You Make Me Want to Wait" & "Jesus Called Me on My Cell

Phone." Off-Broadway premiere @ Dodger Stages, Stage 4
340 West 50th St (W of 8th Ave)

How about Jesus called me on my cell and called me a whore? I'll try and pitch that idea...

WISH I COULD CARRY A TUNE

This is the last time
That I will say these words
I remember the first time
The first of many lies
Sweep it into the corner
Or hide it under the bed
Say these things they go away
But they never do
Something I wasn't sure of
But I was in the middle of
Something I forget now
But I've seen too little of

The last time
You fall on me for anything you like
Your one last line
You fall on me for anything you like
And years make everything alright
You fall on me for anything you like
And I no I don't mind

- LOVE KEANE.
